Kazakhstan and Germany Extend Druzhba Oil Supply Deal

Kazakhstan has extended its deal for the transport 100k mt per month of oil to Germany by a further six months to June 2024, according to Interfax Kazakhstan.

  • Around 993k mt of oil was transported from Kazakhstan to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline in 2023, with the flows starting in February. The initial deal allowed for flows of up to 1.2m mt in total.
  • In October, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy said that flows to Germany could be increased from 1.2m mt to 2m mtpa, but the final volume would be confirmed following negotiations.
