Kazakhstan Needs Diversification Of Oil, Gas Export Routes: KPO

Kazakhstan needs to work on diversifying exports routes, as most of the exports flow via the CPC oil pipeline, General director of KPO, Giancarlo Ruiu said.

  • The CPC oil pipeline passes through Russia and is the main export route for Kazakh oil, accounting for more than 80% of the volumes pumped through the pipeline.
  • In the past year, the system has been facing problems with pumping restrictions because of external factors such as an oil spill accident, SPM damage and others.
  • “The long-term solution will clearly involve diversification of export routes, and the government, and all companies are now working on this and will look for a solution in the near future”, Ruiu said.
