Kazakhstan Not Aiming to Harm Russian Interests

Kazakhstan will not make moves that could harm Russian interests according to Ruslan Zheldibay, a spokesman for the president of Kazakhstan. It comes after Kazakhstan’s president called on his government to diversify the countries oil supply routes given its reliance on the CPC pipeline.

  • "It was about, first of all, a diversification of routes for delivery of Kazakh hydrocarbons to international markets in the context of geopolitical turbulence," Zheldibay said on Facebook, adding, "A business discussion took place at the meeting about construction of new transport corridors in the spirit of pragmatism."
  • He said "no moves will be made to harm Russian interests… we are hoping that no such actions will be taken with respect to Kazakhstan either"
