Kazakhstan Turns to Rail to Move Crude in October

Kazakhstan’s Tengizchevroil is to utlise rail transport to move 200,000 tonnes of oil to Georgia’s Batumi port in October to try and alleviate export strain caused by CPC mooring maintenance.

  • The Black Sea loading point is Kazakhstan’s main entry point to global markets. Two out of three moorings have been shut since last month.
  • CPC Blend crude oil exports were set at 3.85 million tonnes for October, down from 4 million tonnes in the revised September plan, and still well below normal levels.
