Kotecki Re-States Preference for Small Hike

  • NBP MPC member Kotecki stated that a small interest rate hike would show determination and that he sees a need to raise rates by 25bps, with inflation likely to stay in double digits for the time being.
  • Not too surprising from Kotecki - who has leant toward the hawkish side of the MPC.
  • Had argued against the prospect of rate cuts previously, and expressed his preference for a 'small hike', however had conceded that he was in the minority, and that "Polish interest rates probably will not increase this year"
