Kremlin: Health System Under 'Maximum Pressure' From COVID-19

RUSSIA

The Kremlin has stated that a spike in COVID-19 cases and hospitalisations has put the country's health system under 'maximum pressure'.

  • In some regions over 90% of hospital beds are full.
  • The Kremlin is facing questions over whether it has banned medical professionals from talking about COVID-19 to the press. Kremlin denies this, saying "[We] Just need to agree, no one forbids anything. It's just a call for there to be no madness [in speculating on the virus]."
  • Russia has recorded a significant spike in COVID-19 cases and fatalities. The seven-day averages of new cases and fatalities on October 28 (16,401 and 281 respectively per day on average over the past week) were both the highest on record during the pandemic.
