Kremlin Spox-We're Ready For Talks; No Confirmation Of Hungary Role

RTVI reporting comments from their interview with Kremlin spox Dmitry Peskov regarding the war in Ukraine. Peskov claims that the Russian gov't are ready for negotiations, stating that “The President has repeatedly said that the main thing for us is to achieve our goals [on the Ukrainian crisis]. And, of course, we would prefer to do this primarily through political and diplomatic means. That’s why we remain ready for negotiations,

  • RTVI: "However, according to Peskov, at one time the negotiation process was interrupted by the Ukrainian side. “They themselves admitted that this was done at the behest of Britain, the British. Therefore, the situation is quite obvious,”."
  • RTVI: "The Kremlin also responded to RTVI’s request to clarify whether negotiations between Moscow and Kiev could resume on the territory of one of the Western countries, for example, Hungary. The Izvestia newspaper wrote about this earlier with reference to a high-ranking source . According to Dmitry Peskov, this is rather a theoretical conclusion. “Rather, a fundamental theoretical conclusion was written in this publication,” he said."
  • Peskov's comments come as Ukrainian Presidential Advisor Mykhailo Podolyak implied a potential shift in Ukrainian forces towards a more defensive stance in some regions, stating “on the front line and in the cities, we are already moving to a different tactic of warfare — effective defense in certain areas, continuation of offensive operations in other areas....”
