Kurdish Oil Exports Remain in Limbo

Iraq’s northern oil exports to Turkey have not yet resumed according to Reuters sources Thursday.

  • Turkey halted flows of about 450,000 bpd via a pipeline from Iraq’s Kirkuk fields to Turkey’s Ceyhan port on March 25 after Iraq won an arbitration case.
  • Iraq’s federal government and the KRG signed a temporary agreement on Tuesday to restart northern oil exports through Turkey. It was hoped that exports would restart shortly after.
  • Iraq is still waiting for a response from Turkey, a source said to Reuters.
  • Oil production at several Kurdish fields has been halted because of the situation, which has also been helping to support oil prices since the news emerged.
