Kurdish Oil Output At Risk After Export Halt To Turkey

Oil production in Kurdistan region is at risk after a halt in northern exports has forced firms operating there to cease output or divert crude to storage, where capacity is limited according to Reuters.

  • Iraq was forced to halt around 450kbpd of crude exports from Kurdistan on Saturday through an export pipeline that runs from its northern Kirkuk oil fields to the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
  • Several producers in the region have announced to suspend production if no deal will be reached.
  • Iraq halted crude exports from the Kurdistan region and northern Kirkuk fields on Saturday after the country won a longstanding arbitration case against Turkey.
