Kurdistan Oil Producers to Meet Officials in Baghdad over Exports

A delegation from Kurdistan’s Regional Government will visit Baghdad early next week to discuss mechanisms to overcome issues preventing a restart in oil exports, according to Bloomberg citing Kurdistan’s cabinet.

  • The visit follows an invitation from the federal oil ministry.
  • The ITP pipeline which exports oil from Iraq’s Kurdistan to the port of Ceyhan, Turkey has been closed since Turkey shut the pipeline in March 2023.
  • The closure followed an arbitration ruling in March ordering Turkey to pay damages to Iraq due to unauthorised exports in previous years.
  • It has led to a drop in around 470k b/d of exports from the Kurdistan region.
