Norway's main opposition, the centre-left Labour Party, retain a lead over the governing centre-right Conservatives in the latest Respons opinion poll. Labour and its other allies on the left, as part of the 'red bloc' look set to oust the right-leaning 'blue bloc' gov't of PM Erna Solberg in the contest now less than a month away, being held on 13 September.
- Respons poll: Labour: 25%, Conservative: 20% (+1), Progress Party: 12% (+1), Centre Party: 11% (-4), Socialist Left: 10% (+1), Greens: 6% (+1), Red Party: 5% (+1), Liberals: 5% (+1), Christian Democrats: 4% (+1). +/- vs. 5-11 August 2021. Fieldwork: 13-18 August 2021, Sample size: 1,001

- While the red bloc (Labour, Centre, Socialist Left) currently lead the blue bloc (Conservatives, Progress, Liberals, Christian Democrats), there is no guarantee that these three parties will be able to form a majority gov't depending on which other parties cross the 4% electoral threshold, thereby winning levelling seats at the expense of other, larger parties.
- As such, the environmentalist Greens or far-left Red Party could have to be invited into gov't to form a majority coalition, although this would likely result in significant policy disagreements. The Centre Party have already said they will not work with the Greens, while Labour leader (and likely next PM) Jonas Gahr Store has said his party will not work with the Greens or the Red Party.
- Given these permutations, a lengthy coalition-building period seems likely post-election.
