Lavrov, Wang Yi to Meet in Moscow with New Peace Deal Likely to be Proposed

  • Putin may attend a Moscow concert marking the anniversary of the annexation of occupied Ukraine territories while Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet with China’s State Councillor Wang Yi, who is expected to propose a fresh peace deal. European officials familiar with the plan said it is expected to include calls for a cease-fire and for a halt to arms deliveries to Ukraine, Bloomberg reported.
  • The State Duma will consider the draft bill on Russia’s suspension of the New START Treaty today, after Putin announced the move in his address to the Federal Assembly yesterday. However, hours after his address, the Foreign Ministry said Moscow clarified the treaty's caps on nuclear weapons would be respected as the nation has not withdrawn from the pact yet.
  • Finance Ministry and Bank of Russia are preparing a new draft of presidential decree, which would oblige Russian issuers of Eurobonds to issue local substitute securities, Vedomosti report.
