Libya's Mellitah Gas Supply to Italy to Drop Amid Maintenance in May

Gas supply from Libya's Mellitah complex to Italy is expected to reduce significantly and could gradually drop to zero due to planned maintenance in May, according to Eni on April 19.

  • Maintenance is due to take place between May 14 and May 25 but a timeframe for the reduction was not provided.
  • Italy can receive up to 10bcm of Libyan gas annually through the Green Stream pipeline connecting Sicily to Libyan gas fields. Snam data currently shows an hourly flow of 204 thousand standard cubic meters of gas at the Gela entry point in Sicily.
