Lima May CPI Close To Expectations

PERU
  • Despite the Bloomberg calendar having Lima May CPI scheduled for 1600BST/1100ET, earlier headlines on Reuters ran the monthly data:
  • PERU MAY CONSUMER PRICES +0.32% - STATISTICS AGENCY (POLL: +0.25%)
  • A separate Bloomberg survey had the median estimate for the data at 0.30% and therefore the figures appear close to expectations and therefore the annual read will be expected to come in close to expectations around 7.90% Y/y compared to the prior reading of 7.97%. Worth noting that the BCRP will meet next week where the central bank are expected to hold rates steady at 7.75%.
