US TSYS: Little to really stand out on the headline front in Asia, further
positive talk re: the development of various COVID-19 vaccines noted over the
weekend and early Monday, but little to move the needle re: the time horizon of
a deployment across the broader public space.
- Early focus fell on the deepening protests/looting situation in the U.S.,
which weighed on risk appetite at the start of the session, before regional cash
equity markets reacted to U.S. President Trump's failure to deliver hard-line
measures against China and Hong Kong, rallying as e-minis recovered from lows,
with the latter sitting around neutral levels into European hours.
- This pushed T-Notes from best levels to worst levels, although the contract
has stuck to an 0-08+ range, last printing unchanged at 139-02. Curve has twist
steepened on the day, with 20s and 30s softer into European hours.
- The ISM manufacturing survey headlines the U.S. docket on Monday, with the Fed
now in blackout. However, matters surrounding the protests in the States will
likely steal the headlines.
