LNG: LNG Demand In Asia Reaches Lowest Seasonal Level For Eight Years

LNG

Demand for LNG in Asia has reached its lowest seasonal level in eight years, a trend that is likely to free up supply and further ease prices for Europe, Bloomberg reports.

  • North Asian LNG imports have dipped to a low for this time of year, according to ship-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg.
  • China’s February imports fell to the lowest since 2020 as the country grappled with weak demand, a warmer winter and high inventories.
  • Some Chinese firms have been reselling spot cargoes to take advantage of higher prices elsewhere, including in Europe.
