LNG Tanker Arrivals in June Set for Lowest Since August

LNG import arrivals into northwest Europe in June are on track for the lowest since August 2022 according to Bloomberg ship tracking data.

  • Tanker arrivals are currently expected to reach 58 this month compared to 88 in May and a record 97 in April. A total of 38 vessels have already arrived with another 20 scheduled before the end of the month with 68% of arrivals so far originating from the US.
  • Total European LNG sendout has dipped this month in line with the seasonal trend but is still strong for the time of year at around 400mcm/d.
  • The US netbacks are today encouraging supplies to Europe as demand in Asia remains muted by high inventory levels. The profitability of US LNG exports to Europe for August was estimated at 8.40$/mmbtu and to Asia at 8.07$/mmbtu according to Bloomberg before the TTF open today.
