London Court Rules NZT Power Gas Plant Lawful

The London High Court ruled on Wednesday that the planned gas-fired power plant, NZT Power, from BP and Equinor was lawful, after climate campaigners took legal action previously according to Reuters.

  • BP and Equinor are planning an 860MW combined-cycle gas-fired power plant with carbon capture in Teesside, in northeast England.
  • The firms plan the FID by September 2024 with commercial operations scheduled to start from 2027.
  • Climate campaigner Andrew Boswell took legal action over the decision to the facility according to Reuters.
