Lower House Of Congress Approves Milei’s Omnibus Bill

  • The lower house of congress approved President Milei’s omnibus bill on Friday afternoon, in a 144-109 vote. The bill could still be modified significantly, however, as the hundreds of articles will be put to a round of individual votes this week following the so-called general vote. After that, the omnibus package will then head to the Senate for another round of debate and will come into law if it is approved there.
  • In other news, Argentina’s oil producer, YPF, is reported to be considering a return to global bond markets as it carries out a debt buyback, according to local media. The company was reported to have started meeting with investors on Friday and was said to planning to offer as much as $1bn.
  • Data wise, vehicle production, sales and export data for January will be published later today. December industrial production and wages data are scheduled later this week.
