Major Benchmarks Off Lows

EQUITIES

Both Euro STOXX 50 & U.S. e-mini futures move away from China worry-inspired lows through early European trade.

  • E-minis now sit 0.2-0.3% higher on the day, while STOXX 50 futures add the best part of 0.4% (the cash equivalent is little changed).
  • The latest BBG sources story noting that “China asks some funds to avoid net equity sales as markets sink” will be doing the bid no harm, although there hasn’t been much reaction in the Hang Seng (the story hit after the close of mainland Chinese cash equity markets).
  • We haven’t seen much headline flow outside of that.
