Malaysia LNG Investigation Complete by Middle of 2023

Malaysia's state energy company Petronas aims to complete an investigation into disruption of Malaysia LNG gas supply by the middle of the year according to CEO Tengku Taufik on Friday.

  • In September, Malaysia LNG, majority owned by Petronas, declared force majeure on LNG supplies to its customers due to a leak on the Sabah-Sarawak Gas Pipeline.
  • He said that the company does not know what recommendations will be made or the impact on efforts to resume normal operations.
  • Fears for tighter Asia supplies due to the disruption were eased by lower than normal demand over the winter and with reassurances back in October that Japanese customers would be provided with alternative supplies.
