Marcel Says Not In Boric's Program To Support More Pension Withdrawals

  • Local press highlights the first interview that Mario Marcel gave as the future Finance Minister. In the interview with Radio Cooperativa, Marcel said that it is not in Boric’s program to support more withdrawals from the AFPs and he also set “limits” for CAE student loan forgiveness.
    • Analysts at Moody’s said Boric’s opposition to additional pension withdrawals is credit positive as it will avoid the additional overheating of the economy that a fourth pension withdrawal would have generated.
  • Chile raised $4 billion from a three-tranche dollar debt sale on Thursday, taking advantage of investors’ stronger appetite for the nation’s assets and selling dollar bonds as the federal reserve’s rhetoric continues to head in a hawkish direction.
