US DATA
US DATA: March Durable Goods Preview - 08:30 EDT/13:30 BST
---------------------------------------------------------------
- Durable goods orders are expected to rise by 0.8% based on the Bloomberg
consensus and by 0.6% based on an MNI survey of analysts. This follows a
transportation-led 1.6% decline in February orders.
- Boeing reported an increase in March orders despite concerns about the MAX
aircraft. The uptick should allow the transportation component to be a net
addition to headline durables orders
- Durable goods orders ex. transportation is expected to rise by 0.2% by
Bloomberg and 0.4% by MNI, which would represent a rebound following declines in
the previous two months.
- This report will be the last piece of data analysts could use when fine-tuning
their Q1 GDP forecasts for Friday's advance release. Nondefense capital goods
ex. air orders and shipments were both up sharply in January and down in
February, so the March data may offer some clarification.
