US DATA
  • The MBA 30Y mortgage rate climbed 22bps last week to 7.16%, having in the last few weeks surpassed 2006 and now 2002 highs, leaving it close to 2001 highs.
  • That’s an additional 156bp tightening from the average 5.59% through August, during which yesterday’s S&P CoreLogic prices saw the largest decline since Mar’09.
  • A 2% drop in purchase mortgage applications leaves them on par with lows through 2010-14 and not far from the 26 Dec 2014 low after which they would be back at late 1990 levels.
