MEXICO: USMCA Trade Dispute To Be Discussed At Economic Dialogue

US

US Sec of State Antony Blinken heads a US delegation in Mexico today to attend the 2022 US-Mexico "High-Level Economic Dialogue" (HLED) with observers watching a meeting between Blinken and Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) for signs of a resolution to an ongoing trade dispute.

  • The dispute within the US-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) trade agreement was lodged by the US on July 20 over US claims that Mexico's energy policy was discriminatory and "undermines" international firms but AMLO has struck a conciliatory tone today, raising hopes of a positive outcome.
  • News on the trade dispute will likely be discussed in a Blinken/Ebrard joint presser at 18:30 ET 23:30 BST. livestream:https://youtube.com/c/secretariadeeconomia
