MFP & Pheu Thai Confirm They Will Nominate Wan Muhamad Noor Matha For House Speaker

The Move Forward Party (MFP) and Pheu Thai confirmed that their joint candidate for House Speaker will be Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, the leader of the Prachachart party, in line with earlier press reports.

  • Under the compromise agreement, each of the two main parties of the pro-democracy coalition will get one Deputy Speaker seat.
  • The coalition reaffirmed its support for MFP leader Pita Limjaroenrat's bid to become the next Prime Minister.
  • The House Speaker and two Deputy Speakers will be elected by secret ballot tomorrow.
  • The positive resolution of the House Speaker dispute paves the way for the coalition to double down on their efforts to form government - despite familiar obstacles.
