Mid-Month CPI Data, Banxico Minutes

  • Mexico’s central bank will publish the minutes of its unanimous decision on August 10 to hold the key rate at 11.25%. The minutes are scheduled to be released at 1600BST/1100ET. Our review of said meeting is here.
  • Inflation data for Mid-August headlines the data calendar. Easing global inflation, accumulated peso appreciation and base effects are contributing to the disinflation trend, however, recovering domestic demand, increasing costs and price indexation limit the speed of deceleration. The data is due at 1300BST/0800ET:
    • Aug. Bi-Weekly CPI, est. 0.31%, prior 0.21%
    • Aug. Bi-Weekly CPI Y/y, est. 4.66%, prior 4.78%
    • Aug. Bi- Weekly Core CPI, est. 0.22%, prior 0.09%
    • Aug. Bi-Weekly Core CPI Y/y, est. 6.24%, prior 6.52%
