Mid-Month CPI Kicks Off Banxico Decision Day

MEXICO
  • The Peso continues its recovery as USDMXN edges back towards levels seen pre-FOMC around 20.10. The focus this morning will be on the mid-month CPI and Core CPI prints, as well as the release of the May unemployment rate:
    • 1200BST/0700ET – Mexico June Bi-Weekly CPI (Est 0.22% m/m, Prior 0.17%)
    • 1200BST/0700ET – Mexico June Bi-Weekly CPI (Est 5.89% y/y, Prior 5.99%)
    • 1200BST/0700ET – Mexico June Bi-Weekly Core CPI (Est 0.21% m/m, Prior 0.22%)
  • Attention then turns to the June Banxico decision and statement due to be published at 1900BST/1400ET. The governing board are likely to leave the policy rate unchanged at 4%, in a unanimous decision. Recent market developments, both in domestic inflation and external conditions, may have intensified the near-term pressures to convey a more hawkish message to the markets.
