Middle Eastern Diesel Shipments to Europe Fall in October

Middle Eastern diesel shipments to Europe have fallen this month, with some being replaced by US shipments, S&P Commodity Insights data showed.

  • Europe's diesel imports are averaging 165kbpd so far in October, more than the pace in September at 136kbpd, according to S&P Global Commodities.
  • Middle Eastern diesel shipments are currently at 110kbpd, compared with the total September level of 317kbpd.
  • US diesel exports to Europe are ramping up this month at 188kbpd so far in October, up from 122kbpd in September.
  • Europe currently relies on diesel imports from the US, India and the Middle East, Russel Hardy, CEO of commodity trader Vital, told at a conference this week.
  • But Middle Eastern shipments could rebound soon with the end of peak demand season in summer, while refinery maintenances in the region are still ongoing, traders said.
