The Georgia Senate race between incumbent Democrat Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Trump-endorsed Republican Herschel Walker will go to a runoff on December 6 after neither candidate managed to achieve the 50% of the vote required to win the race outright.
- As it stands, Democrats require two more Senate seats to retain control of the chamber with Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona left to declare.
- Alaska is yet to declare but certain to stay Republican, giving the GOP 49 seats.
- Note: Republicans require 51 Senate seats to control the chamber as VP Kamala Harris casts the tie-breaking vote in a 50-50 Senate (the status quo).
- Betting markets see Democrat incumbents Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) slightly favoured in Arizona and Nevada and, if both win, then the Georgia race will no longer determine control of the Senate.
- If the GOP can win one of Arizona or Nevada (most likely Nevada) it will likely lead to a big money campaign leading up to the runoff in Georgia.
