Ministry Of Justice Hit By 'Large-Scale' Cyberattack-INN

ISRAEL

INN reportingthat the Israeli Justice Minsitry has confirmed that it has been targeted by a large-scale cyberattack. INN: "The Ministry of Justice stated that "the Ministry prepared ahead of time for this type of scenario and the matter was immediately reported to the relevant authorities. The scope of the materials is still under consideration and it will take time to examine the content and scope of the leaked materials and their source."

  • The cyberattack comes as Israeli and international attention is focused on the potential Iranian retaliation to a strike that killed seven senior IRGC figures at the Iranian consulate in Damascus earlier this week.
  • Iran has pledged a severe response to the attack, which it blames on Israel. It remains to be seen whether the Justice Ministry cyber breach is the whole Iranian response, part of it, or an entirely unrelated event carried out by non-associated actors.
  • Any cyberattack on the Justice Ministry might not only result in the release of classified information regarding the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, but also potentially politically-sensitive documents regarding PM Benjamin Netanyahu'songoing corruption trial.
