MNI BRIEF: BOC Should Keep Up QE Pace: Shadow Council

(MNI) OTTAWA
OTTAWA (MNI)

The Bank of Canada should maintain its current QE of at least CAD5 billion a week in federal bond purchases at next Wednesday's meeting, according to a shadow council run by the C.D. Howe Institute.

Seven of 10 members voted for the status quo while the other three said QE should be scaled back, according to a report Thursday. All members said the policy interest rate should not rise from today's 0.25% over the next year.
