MNI BRIEF: BOE Haldane- Worker Interaction Leads To Info Flow

LONDON (MNI)

Bank of England Chief Economist Andy Haldane spoke Monday, without addressing monetary policy. Haldane instead looked at new working models in the UK, particularly the post-Covid lockdown work-from-home phenomenon.

According to Haldane, the current model many are experiencing, working from home five days a week, or the 5-0 model as he calls it, leads to a breakdown in knowledge levels from information passed in non-formal settings. Accepting the alternative 0-5 model is probably not viable, he says there must be a middle point found between the two positions.
