MNI BRIEF: BOJ Amamiya: Must Keep Easy Policy Amid Uncertainty

Bank of Japan Deputy Governor Masayoshi Amamiya said on Thursday easy monetary policy must be maintained as there are high uncertainties surrounding wage developments.

“What is important is to achieve a virtuous cycle where wages and prices rise simultaneously and people’s living standards improve amid continue growth in the economy,” Amamiya told business leaders in Morioka City, (See: MNI INSIGHT: New BOJ Board Faces Spur Talk On Kuroda Successor).

“The BOJ will continue to firmly support economic activity through monetary easing, aiming to achieve the price stability target, accompanied by wage increases, in a sustainable and stable manner.”
