MNI BRIEF: BOJ Kuroda Says No Plans To Change 10-Yr Bond Range

TOKYO (MNI)

Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said Thursday that he has no plans to change the 10-year interest rate band from a range of -0.25% to +0.25% and also no aim to raise interest rates now.

The BOJ needs to maintain easy policy to achieve a 2% price target, Kuroda told reporters following the July board meeting, (See: MNI BRIEF: BOJ's Kuroda Says Recent Rapid Weak Yen Undesirable).

“Wages are rising gradually but there is no favorable mechanism that wages rise beyond price rises. Wage hikes didn’t catch up with a rise in consumer prices,” Kuroda said after keeping policy steady as expected, (See: MNI STATE OF PLAY:BOJ To Stand Pat On Policy, Forward Guidance).
