MNI BRIEF:BOJ Minutes: Finer Communication Need On Easy Policy

TOKYO (MNI)

Several Bank of Japan board members expressed that better communication is required to the public and markets on the need to stick with powerful monetary easing, the minutes of the Jan.17-18 policy meeting released on Thursday showed.

The board wants to brush out speculation in markets that the BOJ would consider unwinding easy policy following policy adjustments by other major central banks, see: MNI STATE OF PLAY: BOJ Kuroda: No Policy Change If CPI Hits 2%.

“Some members were of the opinion that, to avoid any misunderstandings, it was important for the Bank to clearly communicate to the public that it would continue with monetary easing until CPI inflation met the 2% price stability target in a stable and sustainable manner,” the minutes showed.
