TOKYO (MNI)

The Bank of Japan's unlimited bond buying operation at a fixed-rate on Monday was aimed under board direction at keeping the 10-year JGB yield around zero percent, a BOJ Capital Markets Department official said.

As reported, the BOJ offered to buy bonds but did not receive any bids. The 10-year bond yield rose to 0.245% at midday, up from 0.240% on Friday, an upper level of between -0.25% and +0.25% that the BOJ tolerates, see: MNI BRIEF: BOJ Offers Unlimited JGB Buying Ops At Fixed-Rate.
