MNI BRIEF: BOJ Should Keep Easy Policy Ahead Of Review -Tamura

(MNI) TOKYO

Bank of Japan board member Naoki Tamura said on Wednesday that the BOJ will need to review its policy framework and inflation target in due course and assess favorable and unfavorable impacts of easy policy.

However, he cautioned that easy policy should maintained in the interim. “It is appropriate for the BOJ to maintain easy policy now” as achieving the 2% price target in a stable and sustainable manner hasn’t been achieved, Tamura told business leaders in Maebashi City.

Tamura said the decision to widen the range around the 10-year interest rate in December didn't intend to tighten policy and the decision was aimed at reducing side-effects and maintaining the sustainability of easy policy
