MNI BRIEF: China October PMI Rises To Six-Month High
China's Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index rose by 0.3 points to 50.1 in October, rising above the 50 mark for the first time in six months, as additional pro-growth policies kicked in, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed Thursday.
The production and new orders sub-indices rose by 0.8 and 0.1 points, to 52.0 and 50.0. Price sub-indices rebounded significantly due to the recent rise in commodity prices.
Non-manufacturing PMI registered 50.2, up 0.2 points from the previous month. The business activity index in the service sector increased by 0.2 points to 50.1. Railway and air transportation rose to a high prosperity range above 55.0 driven by the National Day holiday, while accommodation and real estate improved moderately below the breakeven 50 level, the NBS said.
