MNI BRIEF: China Steel Output Up During February
MNI (BEIJING) - China's crude steel and steel output reached 21.5 and 20.3 million tonnes of steel during the middle 10 days of February, up 0.8% and 4.2% from the previous month, data from the China Iron And Steel Association showed on Tuesday.
The national daily output of crude steel was 2.73 million tonnes, an increase of 0.8% compared to January and the highest since July 2024.
China will export about 80-100 million tonnes of steel this year, down from 2024’s 110 million tonnes, local analysts recently told MNI, noting U.S. tariffs targeting the commodity will likely have little impact and have already been factored in.
