MNI BRIEF: Easy Conditions To Continue Post-Neg Rates - BOJ Ueda

(MNI) TOKYO

Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda said on Friday that the possibility is high that accommodative financial conditions will likely continue after the Bank removes its negative interest rate policy.

Ueda told lawmakers that the BOJ will examine whether it is appropriate for the BOJ to continue with a large-scale easy policy, including the negative rate policy, if the bank can foresee the achievement of its 2% target.

Ueda, however, did not elaborate on when and how to adjust the easy policy, saying it depends on economic and price conditions at that time.

MNI has reported the BOJ will likely exit its negative rates settings at the April 25-26 meeting. (See MNI POLICY: BOJ April Action Will Hinge On CPI Result)
