MNI BRIEF: Eurozone Sentiment Data Bottoming Out-Schnabel

(MNI) ROME

There is evidence that economic sentiment indicators are bottoming out in the euro area, European Central Bank executive board member Isabel Schnabel said on Wednesday, adding that “financial conditions have loosened more than projected” by the central bank.

In a Q&A on X –former Twitter—Schnabel said the near-term economic outlook “remains weak” in line with the ECB’s December projections.

Asked if current market pricing of rate cuts shows a lack of ECB credibility, Schnabel replied “there can be different views on future economic developments and the inflation outlook." (See MNI INTERVIEW: ECB Could Discuss Cut Timing In Jan-Centeno)
