MNI BRIEF: EZ Headline Inflation at 3-Year Low, Services Up

MNI (LONDON) - Eurozone headline inflation data fell to a three-year low in August, dipping to 2.2% from 2.6% in July, according to a flash release from Eurostat published Friday.

Core inflation also fell, but at a slower pace, declining to 2.8% from 2.9% last month. Services inflation rose to 4.2%, with goods inflation slowing to 0.3% y/y.

The data is in line with both market and ECB expectations and is unlikely to shift the debate over an expected cut in September ( see MNI SOURCES: ECB Neutral Rate Debate Heats Up As Growth Weak )
