MNI BRIEF: Fed's Daly Sees Rate Increase As Soon As March

SAN FRANCISCO (MNI)

The Federal Reserve may raise interest rates as soon as March to rein unexpectedly strong inflation, according to San Francisco President Mary Daly, often seen as one of the FOMC's more dovish members.

Daly in an interview on PBS Wednesday declined to speculate when asked if as many as four hikes were needed this year. Inflation has been "uncomfortably high" and it may take some time to unwind imbalances between supply and demand, she said.
