MNI BRIEF: Fed's Waller Says March Meeting Will Be Live

Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller said Friday the March FOMC meeting will be live for consideration around lifting interest rates off of zero.

"The whole point of accelerating the tapering was to end it much faster in March so that the March meeting could be live," he said in an online event. "From a risk management perspective, we'd like to put March on the table as a possible date to start lifting" short-term interest rates.

MNI has previously reported formed Fed officials saying March is the earliest the central bank would consider lifting rates to counter frothy prices.
