MNI BRIEF: German Exporters More Pessimistic On Outlook

MNI (London)
LONDON (MNI)

The Ifo export expectations index dropped to -2.1 in November, down from October's 7.0, signalling a drop in sentiment among German exporters. The severity of the second wave of Covid-19 across many European countries has weighed on exports, Ifo added.

The automotive industry expects a sharp decline in exports in contrast to the more optimistic view in recent months. The food industry projects a decline in exports as well, while engineering and the metal industry sees a stable outlook. On the other hand, the chemical and electronic industry are forecasting stronger exports, according to the Ifo survey.
