Inflation is expected to further decelerate through 2024, ECB President Christine Lagarde said Thursday, with underlying price pressures continuing to decline. (See MNI SOURCES: ECB Needs Sub-3% Core Inflation To Consider Cuts)

The risks for inflation are symmetric, with both upside and downside risks, Lagarde said in her post-meeting press conference, adding that growth risks are to the downside, although rising real wages could be a supporting factor. (MNI BRIEF: ECB On Hold With No Sign Of Early Easing Shift)

Lagarde confirmed the central bank would continue with a data-dependent approach to policy setting.
