MNI BRIEF: Japan December Factory Output Down As Autos Slow

(MNI) Tokyo

Japan's December industrial production fell 1.0% m/m for the first m/m drop in three as automobile production slowed sharply, preliminary data released on Monday by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed.

Production of automobiles rose 1.5% in December for the third straight gain, but down from November. METI left its assessment, saying that industrial production showed signs of recovering.
