MNI BRIEF: Japan June Consumer Confidence Drops On Daily Costs

Japan's consumer confidence index posted the first drop in three months in June on higher prices of daily necessities, but the assessment was unchanged, data released by the Cabinet Office on Wednesday showed.

The consumer confidence index fell to 32.1 in June from 34.1 in May, the data showed. The latest survey was conducted from June 4 to June 20. The data showed that share of respondents projecting consumer price gains fell to 94.2% in June from a record high of 94.4% in May. The share of respondents forecasting lower prices rose to 2.2% fin June from 1.5% in May.
