MNI BRIEF: Fuel, Food, Drink Drive Japan November Retail Sales

TOKYO (MNI)

Japan's retail sales rose 1.9% y/y in November for the second straight y/y rise in the wake of higher spending for fuel and food and beverages, preliminary data released on Monday by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) showed.

METI upgraded its assessment, saying that retail sales “showed signs of recovering.” Retail sales rose 1.2% m/m in November.
